Face ID and Touch ID

Use Face ID or Touch ID to Log In

Unlock your account instantly with Face ID or Touch ID – no password needed.

How it works:

  1. Go to Account Settings → Security & Authentication
  2. Enable "Face ID and Touch ID"
  3. Your device will prompt you to authenticate
  4. Once set up, use Face ID or Touch ID to log in

Benefits:

  • Instant access to your account
  • More secure than passwords alone
  • Super convenient and easy to use
  • Works on iOS and Android devices

Requirements:

  • Your device must have Face ID or Touch ID enabled
  • You need to set it up in your device settings first

Troubleshooting:

  • If you see "Face ID and Touch ID Not Set Up", go to your device settings and enable it
  • Make sure your device is compatible with Face ID or Touch ID

Two-Factor Authentication

What is 2FA?

Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra security layer by requiring two forms of verification:

  1. Your password
  2. A time-based code from an authenticator app

This means even if someone has your password, they can't access your account without the code.

Setting Up 2FA

Step 1: Open Security Settings

  1. Go to Account Settings → Security & Authentication
  2. Tap "Two Factor Authentication"

Step 2: Choose Your Method

You have two options to link your authenticator app:

Option A: Scan QR Code

  1. Open your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, etc.)
  2. Tap the "+" button to add a new account
  3. Select "Scan QR code"
  4. Scan the QR code shown in PiTrade
  5. Your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code

Option B: Copy App Key

  1. If you can't scan the QR code, tap "Copy App Key"
  2. Open your authenticator app
  3. Tap the "+" button to add a new account
  4. Select "Enter a setup key"
  5. Paste the app key you copied
  6. Your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code

Step 3: Verify

  1. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
  2. Tap "Verify" to complete setup

Using 2FA

Once enabled, you'll need to enter a 2FA code when:

  • Logging in from a new device
  • Accessing sensitive account settings

To get your code:

  1. Open your authenticator app
  2. Find the PiTrade entry
  3. Copy the 6-digit code (it changes every 30 seconds)
  4. Enter it in PiTrade

Recommended Authenticator Apps

  • Google Authenticator
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Authy
  • 1Password
  • LastPass Authenticator

Backup Codes

When you enable 2FA, save your backup codes in a safe place. You can use these codes if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Password Management

Resetting Your Password

From Account Settings:

  1. Go to Account Settings → Security & Authentication
  2. Tap "Reset Password"
  3. Enter your current password
  4. Enter your new password (must be strong)
  5. Confirm your new password
  6. Tap "Update Password"

From Login Screen:

  1. On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?"
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Check your email for a reset link
  4. Click the link and follow the prompts
  5. Create a new password

Password Requirements

Your password must:

  • Be at least 8 characters long
  • Include uppercase letters (A-Z)
  • Include lowercase letters (a-z)
  • Include numbers (0-9)
  • Include special characters (!@#$%^&*)

Password Tips

  • Use a unique password for PiTrade (don't reuse passwords from other sites)
  • Use a password manager to generate and store strong passwords
  • Never share your password with anyone
  • Change your password regularly (at least every 90 days)
  • If you suspect your password has been compromised, change it immediately

Remembered Devices

What are Remembered Devices?

When you log in, you can choose to remember your device. This means you won't need to enter 2FA codes on that device for a certain period.

Managing Remembered Devices

View Your Devices:

  1. Go to Account Settings → Security & Authentication
  2. Tap "Remembered Devices"
  3. See all devices that have access to your account

Remove a Device:

  1. Go to Account Settings → Security & Authentication
  2. Tap "Remembered Devices"
  3. Find the device you want to remove
  4. Swipe to delete
  5. That device will need to verify with 2FA on next login

When to Remove Devices

Remove a device if:

  • You no longer use it
  • You suspect it's been compromised
  • You're selling or giving away the device
  • You're concerned about unauthorized access
